Thank you so much Jeff and Joy Stevenson for their very generous donation of our new 8 burner grill. The Junior Class got to use it for the first time at our home football game this past Friday. Mrs. B and Beau Hacket were blown away at how fast they were able to cook roughly 220 burger.

Hello Council Community Members,
As we get closer to the start of the 26-27 school year at CES, I wanted to share the incredible progress CES made during the 25-26 school year towards completing our School-wide Improvement Plan (SWIP). Here is the progress we've made so far:

- In ISAT Mathematics, CES achieved 36% of students at or above proficient, which is an 11% increase from the previous school year and meets our SWIP goal of increasing from 25% to 36% proficient.

- In ISAT English Language Arts, CES achieved 25% of students at or above proficient, which is a 1% increase from the previous school year and is 9% away from meeting our SWIP goal of increasing from 24% to 34% proficient.

- Our 3rd grade class had 52% of students at or above proficient in ISAT Mathematics, which is 1% above the Idaho State average of 51%.

- Our 3rd grade class had 36% of students score advanced in ISAT Mathematics, which is 13% above the Idaho State average of 23%.

- Our 5th grade class had 38% of students at or above proficient in ISAT Mathematics, which is only 4% below the Idaho State average of 42%. We only needed one additional 5th grade student at or above proficient to equal the Idaho State average of 42%.

- CES had experienced negative growth for the previous three consecutive school years in both ISAT Mathematics and ISAT English Language Arts, but experienced positive growth in both ISAT areas during the 25-26 school year. This is the first time this has happened since the 21-22 school year.

- CES reduced our absentee rate from 20% during the 24-25 school year to 12% during the 25-26 school year.

I'm very pleased with the progress we've made so far. We're on pace to complete our SWIP by the deadline established by the Idaho SDE, which is Spring 2028.

I'd like to thank parents and our CES staff for making student learning and school attendance top priorities. I'd also like to thank CSD Superintendent Brian Joyce for working with our CES staff and CES Leadership Team to provide the support and resources we need to increase student learning and success.

I look forward to another incredible school year working with our parents and staff as CES Principal. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or if there's anything I can do to help our students continue to succeed and thrive! Here's to another awesome school year at CES!

See you soon!

Today, the PTO had the opportunity to recognize two very special people in our school—Laura and Katie.

While their title may say “secretary,” anyone who spends time in our schools knows they are so much more. From helping students who forgot their homework, to offering a listening ear, a bandage, or even a much-needed hug—they are a steady, caring presence our kids rely on every day.

They are often the first face students see in the morning and the calm, reassuring presence throughout the day. The heart they put into their work creates an environment where students feel safe, supported, and cared for—like having a second mom at school.

As a small token of our appreciation, we gifted them coffee from the school coffee shop—just a small way to say thank you for everything they do for our students and our school community.

Please join us in showing Laura and Katie some well-deserved appreciation!

Thank You to Our Amazing Lunch Ladies! 💛

Today, the PTO had the opportunity to recognize the incredible women who keep our students fed—not just with meals, but with care, kindness, and heart every single day.

Our kitchen staff does so much more than prepare food. They create a space where students feel welcomed, seen, and cared for. If you’ve ever walked into the cafeteria and heard laughter coming from the kitchen, you know exactly what we mean. Their energy, smiles, and positivity ripple through the entire school.

They truly are a special part of our school community—nourishing both hearts and bellies. 💛

As a small token of our appreciation, we gifted them Shy Simon’s gift cards to say thank you for everything they do for our kids.

Please join us in showing them some love and appreciation!

Dear Parents of Council School District Bus Riders:

As you may have seen in prior communication, we’ve partnered with BusRight - a transportation technology startup - to allow you to keep track of your child’s school bus route to and from school directly from your smartphone.

The BusRight app will allow you to, in real-time, follow your child’s bus route to and from school, receive notifications when the bus begins and ends its route, view the expected arrival time at your child’s designated bus stop, and receive ad-hoc communications from the Transportation Department.

As always questions about your child's bus stop or route should be directed to the Council School District or email transportation@csd13.org

We are very excited about this cool program and what it allows us to do! If you haven't signed up yet, make sure to do so before the end of the year so you can try it out!
