Superintendent's Message

Employment Opportunities

The Council School District has a long history of successful programs:  Athletics, FFA and Academic Scholars to name just a few.  I have been witness to those successes since the school year 1980-81.  That is the year I moved to Adams County, New Meadows to be specific.

In the years since then, I have seen successes in football many times over.  Basketball was always a treat; Council won their share of games over the teams I coached at Meadows Valley.  Girls' basketball is now a leader in the State of Idaho, as are those same girls in volleyball.  And, I have recently noticed track athletes crossing the finish line at the head of the pack.  And field event contestants also doing well.

I’d like to see those traditions continue.  I’d also jump for joy to see the students shine in their academic endeavors.  What is really great? The staff in this school district are focused and also want to see those same things happening.

I have been employed by your Council School District Board of Trustees to lead the efforts.  I hope to enable those teachers to teach to the best of their abilities.  The coaches to coach fundamentals and continue to put fun into the traditions they have recently continued – what a great record the Lumberjacks have had!!!  The specialists to do what they are trained to do in helping students and the support staff of cooks, custodians, counselors, secretaries, and bus drivers to remain proud employees of District #13.

My role as superintendent is to guide and support all of the employees of the district.  I will also support all students in their efforts regarding academics and the extra-curricular activities in which they participate.  It is also my responsibility to ensure a safe environment, be it facilities or outside influences.  Be it students who are having a bad day.  Or staff members the same.

I am excited to be your employee. Sincerely,

Mike Howard
