This week, Mark Mahon led a forestry and forest products unit for my Freshman Intro to Agricultural Mechanics class. Over the first two days, Mark provided classroom instruction, introducing students to various pieces of logging equipment and explaining their roles in silviculture and forest management.
On the third day, the experience culminated in a visit to his shop, where students participated in a hands-on demonstration of the heavy machinery his company uses daily.
My class and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the continued support from Mahon Logging. The freshmen had a great time, after all, it’s not every day you get the chance to operate a few million dollars’ worth of equipment!

Mrs. Zollman wants to highlight the strength that our students are building. She says, "I'm so proud of all the students' growth from the beginning of the year until now. We have young students who couldn't do push-ups at the first of the year doing great ones now with good form. We also have some older ones learning military style and trying to perfect it. We have a bunch of students even practicing at home. I 'm so proud of them!"

Spring Volleyball starts right after the break.

On Monday, our Council School District 13 PTO celebrated Dr. Seuss’s Birthday and Read Across America Day across our Junior High and High School — and the smiles say it all!
Students stopped by to color their own Dr. Seuss bookmarks, grab a reading pencil, and celebrate the joy of books in a fun, relaxed way. Tomorrow the celebration continues in the elementary library, where classes will color bookmarks during library time — and big kids will pair up with little kids for shared reading. 💛
This is exactly what PTO is about.
We partner with families, teachers, and our community to:
• Support student enrichment
• Bring positive, creative experiences into our schools
• Show up and be present
• Make school feel connected and fun
From funding our new art program to running concessions, hosting Valentine-Grams, supporting teachers, and now celebrating literacy across ALL District 13 schools — PTO is proud to serve our students.
We want our students to know:
📚 Reading is powerful.
🎨 Creativity matters.
🤝 Community supports them.
If you’d like to be part of something positive and student-focused, we would love to have you join our PTO. When families and schools work together, great things happen.
Oh, the places our students will go… when they read! 💙

All students K-12 had the opportunity this week to receive a fun Dr. Seuss themed pencil and to color a Dr. Seuss themed bookmark, thanks to the PTO. It was all in honor of Read Across America Week, in honor of beloved children author and illustrator Dr. Seuss.

Sincerely,
The Council FFA

The proposed levy would help support school athletics programs and retain essential teachers’ aides who provide daily classroom support to students.
Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and share their thoughts. The meeting is intended to provide transparency regarding the district’s financial situation and to allow for open conversation between residents, board members, and school administration. Dinner will be served!

We look forward to seeing you there!
