In this course, students will focus first on stories. They will write a narrative about their own lives after examining examples from well-known authors. Then, they will learn to analyze short stories and their characteristics. In the second semester, students will complete a Holocaust study and project. The year will end with a study of adulthood. Each unit will incorporate grammar, writing, reading, and presenting. The students will read nonfiction and fiction articles, short stories, drama, and novels. The students will write narrative, analysis, argumentative, and informative pieces. The students will also learn to prepare a presentation and speak in front of their peers. The purpose of this course is to give students experience in many aspects of language arts to prepare them for high school courses.
